It is not possible to speak of the new (and good) music that is being created in South Africa without mentioning Neckhane - he is even singled out as the messiah of South African indie rock, influenced by names such as Anohni (Antony and The Johnsons), Radiohead, Marvin Gaye or Ali Farka Touré (from whom he took his artistic surname, Touré). Nackhane has managed to develop a language of his own because his influences do not stop at pop music. Nakhane is also influenced by authors such as James Baldwin or Henry Miller, decisive influences to someone who considers himself a writer, as well as a musician and a singer. His debut album “Brave Confusion” released in 2013 was acclaimed by the critics and the audience who surrendered to Nakhane’s vocal and lyrical abilities. Tracks like “Cristopher” and “Fog” are proof of his talent. “You Will Not Die”, the 2018 album produced by Ben Christopher (Bat For Lashes) is an album full of charm and drama, marked by an irresistible pop, whose epicentre is Nakhane’s voice. Lisbon is already waiting for this huge talent and Super Bock in Stock has created the occasion for it.
